Up, Up and Away!
When I heard that there was a fly over going to happen over the village day, of course I thought this would be a great opportunity to try out the focusing on my camera. Ive read many times into S-AF and C-AF and the pros and cons of both, and felt that a fast moving plane would be a good opportunity to try out the C-AF. As we know, that photography is often practise over theory. Unfortunately, my gorgeous little Olympus OM-D EM10 mii failed me when it came down to shot. It struggled to focus and although catching a shot that was ok, many were out of focus and I was left feeling very disappointed. I sought the advice of some super helpful togs and came to find that C-AF isn't a strength of this camera. It just so happened that a little trip to the local airfield the following weekend provided the perfect opportunity to continue this exploration into focusing modes. I reverted back to S-AF and was, after all, able to capture the fast movement of these planes coming and going, even if it meant refocusing over and over. It was good fun. It made me realise that the joy is capturing the shot in the moment and this can be done in so many different ways.
It doesn't make you any more or less of a photographer. Just in case you needed to hear that!
